Wrapped in Love: A Gift from Naomi

By November 19, 2025No Comments

As the chill of autumn settles in and we reach for our favorite cozy comforts, there’s nothing quite like the embrace of a handmade quilt – soft, colorful, and stitched with care. At KidsPeace, we recently received a heartwarming delivery that felt like a hundred hugs arriving at once: nearly 100 beautiful quilts, lovingly crafted by Naomi Yergey and the compassionate parishioners of St. James Lutheran Church in Coopersburg, PA. These quilts aren’t just blankets, but bundles of hope, sewn with love and destined to bring warmth and comfort to children in our Pennsylvania programs.

This generous gift is part of a long tradition of compassion. Over the years, Naomi and her church community have donated more than 1,500 quilts to organizations within the community, including KidsPeace. Naomi shared that when she first made quilts for her grandchildren, she hoped they would feel “as though they were being hugged by Grammy” every time they wrapped themselves in one. With that same spirit, she wanted the children at KidsPeace to feel comforted, cared for, and reminded that someone is thinking of them, wishing them warmth, safety, and love.

Naomi’s gift is a powerful symbol of what makes the KidsPeace community so special: people coming together to offer hope, healing, and a sense of belonging to the children and families we serve. Her quilts are more than cozy covers – they are also stitched stories of generosity, compassion, and unwavering support.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Naomi and the St. James Lutheran Church community for wrapping our kids in love, one quilt at a time.
