Alexis Harvey, Program Manager has spent her academic and working career focusing on the developmental needs of children on the autism spectrum. She began working at KidsPeace in 2004 as a Therapeutic Support Staff in the BHRS program. While working at BHRS, Alexis helped children on the autism spectrum improve their communication, social and play skills with therapy based on Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). In the fall of 2004, Alexis began her Masters of Science in Psychology at Bucknell University where she studied developmental psychopathology and child psychology. Her graduate research focused on the use of an EEG to examine the relationship among brain activity, Executive Functions (a person’s ability to plan, organize and problem solve) and the severity of autism related symptoms in children and teenagers. Upon completion of her Master’s degree, Alexis returned to KidsPeace in 2007 as the Service Supervisor for the Autism After School Therapeutic Program and the Summer Therapeutic Activities Program, also known as Sarah’s Smile. Between these programs, Alexis has had the privilege of helping to provide quality therapeutic curriculum to enhance the developmental and social needs of over 150 children in the Lehigh Valley per year. In 2013, Alexis assisted in expanding the autism after school therapeutic program into Berks county by opening the Autism Connections program for children ages 6 to 21. Currently, Alexis serves as the Program Manager for all of KidsPeace Autism Services, including Sarah’s Smile, the Autism After School Therapeutic Program, Autism Connections and BHRS.
