Dempsey’s Brew Pub to host pre-race party for KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot

Saturday’s 4th annual 5K/1-Mile Walk at Oriole Park at Camden Yards is held in partnership with the Baltimore Orioles and presented by OneMain Financial

BALTIMORE – The countdown is on! In five days, hundreds of runners and walkers will hit the streets of Baltimore to raise money and awareness for KidsPeace foster care youth.

The fourth annual KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot 5 K/1-Mile Walk, in partnership with the Baltimore Orioles, presented by OneMain Financial, begins and ends at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The race, which will be attended by Orioles Manager Buck Showalter and his wife, Angela, begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to don costumes for the event and stay for the post-race party with the Oriole Bird. There is still time to register if you haven’t already. Visit www.kidspeace5k.org.

Race packet pickup is Friday night at Dempsey’s Brew Pub & Restaurant, located inside the stadium. Parking for the pre-race event will be available in stadium lots B and C, and Dempsey’s will validate parking. Jacqueline Edwards, KidsPeace Maryland Board of Associates co-chair, invites everyone to stop by Dempsey’s and visit with the Showalters and other participants before the big day.

“Come join us for a fun pre-party night at the stadium,” Edwards said. “Dempsey’s is a wonderful restaurant with great food and craft beer. The Showalters are hosting this evening as a true start to the KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot.”

Proceeds from the race benefit KidsPeace Foster Care and Community Programs of Maryland and Washington D.C., including KEYS (KidsPeace Empowering Youth to Succeed), a program that teaches life skills to youth preparing to age out of the foster care system. This event is bolstered by the generosity of our presenting sponsor, OneMain Financial; and our gold sponsors, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Casey Construction, TransAmerica, Charter Financial, RevMax, UnderArmour and Bridgeway Community Church; and our media sponsors, WBAL, MASN, WPOC and PressBox.

The Showalters and KidsPeace representatives will be available for media interviews Friday night and Saturday morning. On race day, media may park in lot A and report to the stage area in Maryland Square outside of gate C. For additional information or to coordinate interviews, please contact Ray Schulte at ray@schultesports.com.
