Mental and behavioral healthcare for children is a fast-growing field that features exciting job opportunities for individuals with a passion for helping kids.   Now, Lehigh Carbon Community College and KidsPeace are collaborating on an innovative partnership to identify, train and hire the next generation of Mental Health Technicians (MHTs)

The Mental Health Technician Training Academy Certification Program is centered on how to provide the world-class care KidsPeace has delivered for more than 140 years. The curriculum developed through the KidsPeace Institute includes classroom training, simulation laboratory sessions, and job shadowing. ,MHTs provide direct supervision and care to emotionally and behaviorally challenged children in a compassionate and respectful manner. MHTs are the foundation of the care providers like KidsPeace offer – the immediate connection between these kids and the help they desperately need.

Upon completing their certification, participants will be considered preferred candidates for MHT positions at KidsPeace – with compensation equivalent to bachelor’s degree holders and the opportunity to accelerate their training and begin caring for kids sooner, if hired.
