KidsPeace announced that it has received a $50,000 grant from a New England-based foundation in support of the establishment of a new facility for its education programs in Orono, ME.
The grant is from the Ludcke Foundation, created by Eleanor and Gipp Ludcke with the purpose of fulfilling their version that every individual be allowed to grow up in a safe and nurturing surrounding, and have access to adequate health care and an opportunity to pursue an education.
The $50,000 grant to the KidsPeace Maine Capital Campaign will help support the move of its Old Town preschool program to Orono. When complete the Orono facility will have three times the number of classrooms than the current location; it will also house an employee day-care center, in addition to a “green space” for outdoor activities and facilities for in-house and community trainings.
Phase One of the campaign will involve the outfitting of nine classrooms at the new site with furnishings, modern educational technology and curriculum materials. It also includes the creation of the day care center.
KidsPeace says the goal of the overall funding campaign is the creation of an inclusive, state-of-the-art environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Ludcke Foundation supports organizations that provide needed resources and services to children and families, with an emphasis on emotional and physical health, education, and social development. The Foundation devotes its grants to the fields of education, health, and human services. The trustees have a special interest in programs that focus across two or three of the foundation’s areas of interest and in partnering with other donors with similar objectives to enable more ambitious projects.
