Third Annual KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot 5K supports foster youth
BALTIMORE – Grab your running shoes and maybe a costume and get ready for a spirited time on Oct. 27 at the Third Annual KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot 5K/1-Mile Walk.
All proceeds from the race benefit KidsPeace Foster Care and Community Programs of Maryland and Washington D.C. – including KEYS (KidsPeace Empowering Youth to Succeed), a program that gives youth life-skills training to prepare them for independence.
The race begins and ends in O’Donnell Square (at the corner of O’Donnell and Linwood avenues in Canton). Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m., the race kicks off at 9 a.m. and the fun walk starts at 9:05 a.m. It’s $40 to register for the race, and $20 per family to walk. Foster families and foster children walk for free. A post-race party will follow the event.
“We are truly excited about the opportunity to host our third annual 5K event,” said Angela Showalter, event co-chairperson, KidsPeace Board of Associate member and wife of Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter. “Last year’s event was a huge success and provided our foster youth with critical resources to help them in their journey to adulthood. We are hopeful that this year’s event will help us support even more children.”
Visit http://www.kidspeace.org/5Krun.aspx for info on registering for the event and to see a video from last year’s race. The first 400 registered runners will receive an UnderArmour race shirt. Gift certificates will be awarded to top runners and age group winners.
Our Gold Sponsors include UnderArmour, Charter Financial Group, OneMain Financial, The Baltimore Orioles and MASN.
