Welcome to ParentCentral.Net
Parenting has never been more difficult. Our children are stressed, they behave in ways that are dangerous to them and sometimes to you, they are exposed to drugs and alcohol and violence much earlier than a generation ago, their schools are cutting back on everything due to funding reductions, and money is harder and harder to come by. You are working more, maybe at two jobs, and you feel like your child is out of control. Where can you go for guidance and encouragement? ParentCentral.Net is a special place where you as a parent can communicate with counselors, other parents and professionals and receive answers within 24 hours.
This site gives members the benefit of reading other parents’ stories and the counselor responses. It contains parenting information, help lines you can call and topics that will educate, encourage and assist you in dealing with parenting issues.
You will help us define the content of ParentCentral.Net with your questions and suggestions. We will add content on subjects that our members ask about most. No topic is off limits.
ParentCentral.Net was developed in response to the many parents who write to our very successful TeenCentral.Net, described below. The number of parents who contact the teen site has increased significantly of late, as have emails to KidsPeace from parents who need help and support but do not know where to turn. We typically answer these emails personally and do not post the questions or answers online. Believing that we can reach out to many more parents by publishing these questions and answers anonymously online, KidsPeace has responded with this new site just for parents. Please feel free to visit both sites and learn how much information we offer to teens and adults and then join and start helping yourself.
ParentCentral.Net is now operational. Please log on and visit all of the informational pages on site. Once you register as a member, you may post your own question or concern and begin to receive counseling and advice that will help you overcome parenting issues.
TeenCentral.Net
KidsPeace has offered TeenCentral.Net to the teens of the world since 1998. Members to log on to TeenCentral.Net and write about their concerns, learn how to stop some bad habits, receive advice from trained counselors and offer support to other teens who have posted about the difficulties they are facing. TeenCentral.Net is free and totally anonymous, so teens can be open and honest and know that they cannot be identified.
With more than 490,000 members, TeenCentral.Net is very popular with teens from around the world. When teens have questions or issues they feel they cannot discuss with their parents or friends, TeenCentral.Net offers a safe environment to express themselves and receive advice from Master's and PhD level counselors. More than 500,000 teens belong to the site and have formed a community where they share their problems and successes.
TeenCentral.Net is always adding new resources and interesting content to the site, including a news section that is relevant to teens, videos and stories about celebrities who experienced the same things members are experiencing, books of interest to teens and helpful information about weight awareness and how to stop smoking. Right before Christmas, Amanda Seyfried, the popular actress from "Mean Girls," "Mama Mia," and "Big Love," visited TeenCentral.Net in Pennsylvania and filmed a short video that tells teens why she is a fan of TeenCentral.Net and has been since she was a young teen. There are sports stars, musical groups and other celebrities who support us and take the time to tell their stories on our site. There are also webinars featuring Dr. Julius Licata, Director of TeenCentral.Net.
There is also now a FaceBook page about TeenCentral.Net that keeps teens up to date on what is happening on the site, and new teens join every week. Although there is not a separate site for adults, parents can write for advice and receive private emails with the information they need or recommendations about where to go to find answers.
Teens post about family issues, boyfriend or girlfriend troubles, problems with friends, school difficulties, sexuality and concerns about friends who are need help. No subject is taboo, and counselors provide factual, non-judgmental answers to each post within 24 hours. Many teens have posted that the advice they received from TeenCentral.Net changed their lives, helped them out of bad situations and directed them to service providers in their areas that could help them with serious problems. KidsPeace encourages educators, parents, mental health services providers and counselors to guide teens to TeenCentral.Net so that they can "Log on and work it out," whatever their problem may be.
