Education
At
the KidsPeace Academy at Orchard Hills, we pride ourselves in the fine
education we provide to our students. Each adolescent who enters the
Academy is fully evaluated to determine placement in the optimum
learning environment. Our Donley Center School on the Orchard Hills
campus offers small classrooms with low student to teacher ratios and
individualized plans developed to meet the learning needs of each student. Our teachers work closely with the student's home school to
ensure that state and local requirements are being met and adapting the
curriculum to match the student’s learning style. We follow IEPs and
measure progress against goals developed for each student. Our
intensive work with each student results in great strides in
schoolwork. Students catch up with their classmates and typically
achieve gains of more than one academic school year per year at the academy, a
measure they were falling far behind before entering the Academy. The
success they experience fosters a love for learning and the desire to
pursue further education after high school. Success is a wonderful
incentive to a student who has not been able to keep up in school due to
learning or behavior problems. The joy of reading and writing at the
same level as peers is an extraordinary experience that improves self
esteem and gives our students great hope for the future.
