A very special event is approaching in the Lehigh Valley (Pennsylvania). Suicide prevention is a cause with obvious connections to the work that we do every day at KidsPeace. Each year, a team of walkers represents KidsPeace in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Allentown. The walk is one of hundreds taking place across the country, with proceeds benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). AFSP uses the funds for research and education programs to prevent suicide, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, and provide support for survivors of suicide loss. It is NOT necessary to raise money to participate--simply joining the walk is appreciated as a demonstration of support for this important cause! The Allentown walk is on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14th, FROM NOON UNTIL 3:00PM at the Lehigh Parkway (meeting at the Iron Bridge). To register, go to www.outofthedarkness.org, click "Find An Event Near You," enter "Allentown" in the search box, click "Register Now," and follow the instructions. (You may have to name a fundraising goal, but you are under no obligation to meet it.) Have some fun and support a great cause!
