The KidsPeace Foster Care office in South Bend, IN, is recognizing its foster parents on Friday, May 1, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be  appetizers, door prizes and various awards. Staff will honor families who have adopted foster children in the past year, as well as foster families who best exemplify each component of the KidsPeace Model of Care. The office will also present Stick to It Awards to families nominated by staff members who have dealt with difficult during the past year but hung in there and overcome the issues.  Also, on May 30, 2009 the office is providing foster parents an all-day training at the office to help them meet the on-going training requirements of the state. Staff members will babysit the foster children while the parents are in training (often 50-60 kids). The children make  crafts to honor their foster parents as well while the training is being presented.
