Become a Foster Parent

Opening up your home to help a child in crisis is certainly a very special gift. However, our foster and adoptive parents tell us that caring for a KidsPeace foster child makes a positive difference in their lives, too. This is because, with KidsPeace, it is all in the match, and we take extra care to place just the right children in just the right homes. Once we find the right match for you and for each child, we provide you with special training to meet the specific needs of that child. And then we provide professional, round-the-clock support from a caseworker who knows you and your child very well.

We help children succeed where they have struggled and help them develop positive visions for the future. KidsPeace foster families and professional staff, along with community resources, assist each child to develop positive social, educational and emotional skills and discover their strengths and potential for future success. We provide free training to KidsPeace foster parents on the three main components of our approach to foster care:

  • Resiliency-based services (risk factors, protective factors, treatment elements, etc.)
  • Trauma-informed care
  • The evidence-based practice model known as Together Facing the Challenge.

Our smaller offices and lower caseloads ensure effective communication and ongoing help whenever you need it.

If you would like to enrich a child's life while discovering riches in your own, consider becoming a KidsPeace foster parent. You don't need to be wealthy. You don't need to be married. You don't need to have kids of your own. You don't need a Ph.D. in child psychology. What you do need is a loving heart and a desire to provide a safe, nurturing environment to a child.

Locations: KidsPeace has foster care programs in Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C.
